School Dresses

The Kelly School of Irish Dance has formal School Dresses.  These are available to loan out to students who are participating in Community Performances, as well as starting in Feiseanna, until they graduate to a Solo Dress.  It is the the student's responsbility that they are kept clean, maintained and returned to the School when not in use.   Graduating to a Solo Dress is dependent on the student's competitive level, as well as permission from the Instructor.

Class Attire

For all Practice classes, Dancers must attend class in dance appropriate attire.  A water bottle is also permitted in the class. Dance appropriate attire would include a tank top and spandex shorts, a leotard and dance skirt, etc.  Absolutely no jeans or long & loose pants are allowed in class, for they hinder the Instructors view of your leg and foot placement.  If your child is in the clothing they wore to school then it is not appropriate for dance class.

Hair MUST be tied back neatly in a ponytail, bun or braid.  Any loose hair is not permitted.

Dancers are required to wear dance shoes in class.  It is         absolutely acceptable for beginners to wear ballet slippers, at the beginner level they are easier to fit and to put on.  Beyond that, proper Irish Dancing shoes are required for class.  If you would like to purchase new or used Hard or Soft shoes, you can reference our Dancer Links or For Sale pages.  Dancing in bare feet is strictly forbidden. Dancing in socks is permitted if a dancer is in-between shoes and in the process of getting new shoes.
